Middle School Coaching Staff

Coach Martin enters his third year as the head coach for the Orange Middle Trailblazers.  He has been named Central District Middle School Coach of the Year for the last two seasons (2023 and 2024).  Martin grew up with football, baseball and wrestling, then passed that love of wrestling onto his daughter, 2x state champ Taryn, and his son Preston, who wrestled as a youth.   Martin is engaged to Kim Dodson, and all three of her kids have wrestled in the Orange program (Delaney, Owen, Cora). As a coach, he holds USAW Bronze Certification and has worked with youth teams for 8 years (Central Crossing, Crush and Spark).  Martin has been a tireless advocate for girls wrestling and communications chair for the SanctionOH task force; he has previously coached the Ohio Girls National Team at Viper Pit, Preseason National Duals, Girls Folkstyle Nationals, Bodybar and Fargo. A Wright State University graduate, Coach Martin is employed as the Safety Director for PSC Crane & Rigging.

Coach Simmons enters her third season with the Trailblazers as a middle school girls assistant. She has also worked with youth wrestlers at camps. In her competitive career, Simmons captained the OOHS Pioneer squad for two seasons and was a 3x state qualifier.  At the time, she was only the second Orange girl to place twice in the state tournament, finishing 6th in 2020 and 5th in 2022. During her senior season, her team won the state dual title and finished 3rd in the state championship. Coach Simmons is studying to be a middle school teacher and is also a licensed nail tech.

Coach Carroll enters her fifth year on the middle school staff, first with Olentangy Fire club, then as a Trailblazer assistant.   As an senior athlete, she was a state-ranked 101 pounder for the Pioneers and competed in the first OHSWCA girls state championship, where the program finished as state runner-ups. Coach Carroll is employed with Mazda, and hopes to continue in that field or in air traffic control.  In her free time, she enjoys working on cars and hanging out.
